Update!!

Over the last month I have written two blog posts besides this one but never actually posted them. We'll chalk that up to ADHD. I have posted them below if you are interested :)

So, our long-awaited update came yesterday!!! No video but we did receive two new pictures of our little cutie!

Her fuzzy little hair is starting to grow (they stopped shaving it). She is looking big. Can't wait to have her in our arms! They sent her measurements and from what they gave us she is pretty much right at Myah's height and very close in weight - maybe a pound or less bigger than Myah. (3 months younger than Myah). They said that she is smart and active, a fast learner, curious, and likes trying new things. They also let us know they call her Kou-Kou. Bless her heart, not a nickname that would go over well in the US! They confirmed that she has been full-time with her foster family since the day after she was found, and has a foster brother and sister. This is wonderful news! I am so happy to know that it is likely that she has been loved and well taken care of and nurtured, and has learned what a family is and been able to attach/bond with them.  At the same time is hard for me to think about pulling her away from the only family she has known. I had to remind myself that 1. Most likely in a few years she would be moved into the orphanage out of her foster family to make room for more babies in foster care, 2. This family has not chosen to pursue adopting her but has positioned themselves for the temporary care of children in hopes that they will be adopted, and 3. Most importantly she will be coming into a family who is committed to bringing her up in Christ. We are so ready for her and we love her already!!! What a fun update to get and our last one before we go.

Our Article 5 was dropped off at the US Consulate in China on Monday 1/13. This takes 2 weeks (10 business days) to process but ours will be delayed a day due to MLK day so pick-up will be Tuesday 1/28. It will be overnighted by our agency to the CCCWA and we will officially be in the TA (Travel Approval) wait!! TA can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks typically but recently we have heard of quite a few people getting them in 3-7 days! (Of course, we had heard of LOAs in 30-40 days and ours was 95 so we are trying not to assume anything besides that God's timing is perfect! So hard not to have those expectations when you know it is possible to get such a short one.) Anyway but the complication with ours is that it will arrive at the CCCWA on the 29th and they close the 30th-Feb 6 for Chinese New Year. That is their big holiday and many people take off additional days (as we do at Christmas) so this could delay TAs and Consulate Appointments. Either way hoping for a Gotcha Day (in adoption lingo this is what they call the day that you meet and pick up your child) of 2/24 or 3/3...Even earlier would be better!!! Pray for a fast TA!
